DESCRIPTION: Historic masonry structures are vulnerable to earthquakes\
, but their seismic assessment remains a challenge. Furthermore\, the thre
e-dimensional stability of vaulted masonry structures remains difficult to
model. Analytical modelling and discrete element modelling techniques wil
l be presented which can be used to understand stability and predict dynam
ic response. Results are evaluated through comparison with scale model tes
ting. The presented modelling strategies could allow more effective assess
ment and retrofit of historic masonry structures.\n\n \n
