DESCRIPTION:An exotic sphere is a smooth manifold which is homeomorphic\,
 but not diffeomorphic\, to a sphere with its standard smooth structure. Th
 ere are many exotic spheres\, but relatively little is known about their g
 eometry (e.g.\, smooth transformation groups\, curvature). I will describe
  some recent results detecting smooth rotational symmetries of exotic sphe
 res using stable homotopy theory (joint work with Boris Botvinnik and work
 s in progress with Tilman Bauer and Oliver Wang).&nbsp\;
