DESCRIPTION:I will discuss recent work where it was demonstrated that regu
 lar black holes emerge as the unique spherically symmetric solutions to ce
 rtain gravitational actions that incorporate infinite towers of higher-der
 ivative corrections. I will then illustrate what happens when one consider
 s the collapse of spherical thin shells and dust in these theories\, showi
 ng that the collapse is generically non-singular. This is based on work wi
 th Pablo Bueno\, Pablo Cano and Ángel Murcia.
