DESCRIPTION:As the Irish language becomes central to the culture wars domi
 nating political discourse in the North of Ireland\, Belfast has emerged a
 s a leading force in the Irish revival movement across the Island of Irela
 nd. This seminar is a reflection of five weeks of fieldwork in West Belfas
 t working with Forbairt Feirste\, a non-profit focused on the social\, eco
 nomic\, and cultural development of Belfast through the creation and maint
 enance of Irish language medium resources. The seminar will address the in
 tersections of grassroots and governmental heritage initiatives\, the role
  of cultural policy in post-conflict recovery\, and the impact of cultural
  infrastructure within divided communities using Belfast’s Irish languag
 e ecosystem as a case study.
