DESCRIPTION:Standard constructions in homological/homotopical algebra such
as cones and suspensions have natural homotopy (co)limit characterisation
s in the setting of (infinity\,1)-categories (higher categories in which a
ll the cells above dimension 1 are invertible). Here there is an abstract
notion of stability which is related to properties of triangulated structu
re on the homotopy category\, and which can be seen explicitly in the part
 icular setting of (stable) dg-categories.\n
