DESCRIPTION:This talk will present preliminary results of a palynological
study undertaken at Hepple Wilds as part of the UKRI Rewilding Later Prehi
story project. The project aims to better understand late prehistoric huma
n impact on the landscape on a rewilding estate\, and an area rich in arch
aeological remains.\nThe evidence for farming activity from other Northumb
erland pollen records will also be scrutinized and compared with Bronze Ag
e\, Iron Age\, and Roman archaeological sites heat maps. But is palaeoecol
ogical evidence consistent with archaeological evidence?\nMore broadly\, t
his presentation will ask how palaeoecological and archaeological research
can contribute to future nature recovery. \n\n\nPlease join us in-person
in the McDonald Institute seminar room or join online.\n\nhttps://teams.mi
