DESCRIPTION:This talk will explore the expanding use of the UN Genocide co
 nvention as a mechanism to limit or halt mass violence. Exploring the exam
 ple of The Gambia vs. Myanmar at the International Court of Justice\, the 
 discussion will explore the geopolitical circumstances contributing to the
  desire to use law to mediate international relations. It will go on to sp
 eculate whether we are seeing\, as some commentators argue\, a ‘judicial
 isation of international relations’ or whether recent cases are a signal
  of increasing anarchy in the global order.
