DESCRIPTION:Reconstructing Mesopotamia’s long-term land use histories re
 quires integrating diverse lines of evidence\, from satellite remote sensi
 ng to the analysis of microbotanical remains. This talk presents ongoing p
 hytolith research from the Erbil Plain and broader region to highlight how
  microbotanical data can reveal patterns of agropastoral strategies and la
 ndscape change over millennia. In addition to archaeological insights\, th
 e talk considers how modern land use both obscures and informs our interpr
 etations of the past\, underscoring the importance of integrating present-
 day processes into narratives of the region’s dynamic landscape historie
