DESCRIPTION:Talks by:\n\n*Olga Grinchenko (Oxford) \n"Some Calendrical Fea
tures of the Slavonic Kontakaria"*\n\n_The paper deals with Slavonic litur
gical manuscripts called Kontakaria (late 11th to 13th centuries). Each Sl
avonic manuscript contains a number of commemorations and liturgical feast
 s. Although none of Slavonic manuscripts maintain a pure tradition of a ce
rtain liturgical order but\, feature a mixture of various elements\, it is
of use and great interest to trace the influence of different calendrical
archetypes in order to determine the original content of the Slavonic sou
rces and their relationship to the Greek prototypes\, and extend our knowl
edge of the links between pre-Mongol Russia and Byzantium._\n\n\n*&*\n\n*A
lexandra Vukovich (Cambridge)\n"Concord and Reconciliation as Iconographic
and Literary Themes in the 'Life of Queen Helen' by Archbishop Daniel II"
*\n\n_The ‘Life of Queen Helen’ is a narrative source describing the r
eign of Queen Helen and those of her sons\, Milutin and Dragutin\, in the
late medieval Balkans. The text functions as an encomium to the late queen
and is translated visually in the iconographic programmes of monastic chu
rches founded by the Nemanjid princes. This paper will discuss the iconogr
aphic and literary themes of concord and reconciliation and their relevanc
e to the dynastic integrity of the Nemanjid kingdom._\n\nRussian snacks an
