DESCRIPTION:Comparisons of the temperature tolerance of marine species fro
m different latitudes can tell us which individuals\, species and communit
ies are most sensitive to change. These comparisons can be used to test th
e mechanisms underlying large scale physiological and ecological patterns\
, e.g. the "climate variability hypotheses". I will give a summary of rece
nt latitudinal comparisons both within and outside Antarctica: 1) between
McMurdo Sound and Marguerite Bay\, 2) between Antarctic\, temperate and tr
 opical environments.
