DESCRIPTION:A natural\, but notoriously challenging problem is to determin
e when two flows (i.e.\, continuous actions of the real numbers) on an a C
*-algebra are the same up to some appropriate notion of equivalence (usual
ly this is called cocycle conjugacy). So far\, if one looks at peak achiev
ements in this direction such as Szab&oacute\;'s classification of Rokhlin
flows or the Gabe-Szab&oacute\; classification (when restricted to flows)
\, it is evident that general classification results could only be achieve
d by restricting to the class of Rokhlin flows. A fundamental class of flo
ws for which this problem is still open is the family of quasi-free flows
on Cuntz algebras. In this talk\, I will describe the history of the probl
em\, and show how one can classify such flows 'generically'.
