DESCRIPTION:In the automotive and transportation sectors\, engineering mat
 erials are frequently subjected to impulsive loading during collision even
 ts. Understanding their behaviour under such conditions is essential for d
 esigning safer\, more impact-resilient structures. However\, current resea
 rch often overlooks critical factors\, such as the combined influence of c
 omplex loading paths\, strain rate\, and environmental conditions.\n\nThis
  seminar will explore two key areas:\n(i) state-of-the-art experimental te
 chniques for investigating the behaviour of lightweight materials under co
 mplex loading and environmental conditions\; and\n(ii) the potential of co
 ntrolling stress wave synchronisation and timing\, alongside data-driven m
 odelling approaches.
