DESCRIPTION:In October 2009 Cambridge University Eco Racing (CUER) took on
  teams from across the world in the Global Green Challenge www.globalgreen
 challenge.com.au\, a 3\,000km journey across Australia for solar-powered c
 ars. Racing across a barren continent using nothing but the power of the s
 un\, makes for an inspirational spectacle\, but what can the engineering i
 ndustry learn from development of these highly-specialised vehicles?\n\nTh
 e CUER team was the UK's only team in the 2009 Global Green Challenge and 
 has built two solar cars in the group's two-year history.\n\nThis talk wil
 l explore the relevance of solar car technologies\, illustrated using the 
 experiences of the Cambridge team. \n\nGuests will also be invited to view
  CUER's 2009 car\, Endeavour\, recently returned from the Australian outba
 ck.\n\nThe speaker\, Anthony Law\, was CUER Team Manager and graduated fro
 m Cambridge University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering in June 2009
 . Anthony is now an engineer at automotive consultancy\, Ricardo.\n\nThis 
 free lecture is open to members and non members. There is plenty of space 
 in the lecture room and no need to register for this event.
