DESCRIPTION:Whether late Cenozoic climate change was a driver of apparent
\n'uplift' of mountain ranges remains a critical problem in the earth \nsc
iences as it determines how anomalous modern landscapes are relative \nto
earth's geological past. Have erosion rates dramatically increased \nglo
bally during the last few millions of years? What impact might this \nhave
on mountain landscapes\, foreland basins and sediment fluxes? These \nque
stions are tested using a broad range of thermochronological and \nsedimen
 tological data from across Europe.\n
