  of cancer\, it becomes increasingly possible to develop rational approach
 es to treatment and prevention. Bruce Ponder will illustrate some of these
  from the work going on in Cambridge\, in particular at the new Cancer Res
 earch UK Cambridge Research Institute.\n\nProfessor Sir Bruce Ponder is Di
 rector and Professor of Oncology at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Resea
 rch Institute. He is world-renowned for his pioneering research into disco
 vering genes that affect our risk of common cancers\, particularly breast 
 cancer. He is also investigating the genetics of oesophageal cancer.\n
