DESCRIPTION:The Human Organ A
tlas paints a beautiful picture of the human body\, with whole organs
imaged down to the resolution of individual cells. These datasets are huge
 – each image is typically 1 TB\, and across over 500 images we have col
lected more than half a petabyte of data. This immediately presents a chal
lenge – how do we process and analyse datasets that are larger than the
memory on our computers?\n\nIn this talk I’ll give an overview of the im
ages in the Human Organ Atlas and use this to motivate the use of next gen
eration chunked file formats. I’ll talk about how these chunked file for
mats work\, the software being developing to help scientists work with the
se file formats\, and ongoing work to develop a framework for memory-bound
ed computations.
