DESCRIPTION:Quantum cohomology is an algebraic structure that encodes rich
  enumerative information about an algebraic variety or an almost Kähler m
 anifold. The associativity of its product has deep implications and beauti
 ful geometric interpretations. In this talk\, I will introduce some of the
 se ideas and\, if time permits\, discuss a recent study on the quantum coh
 omology of certain local Calabi–Yau surfaces.
