DESCRIPTION:Professor Simon Wessely will take a look at how populations\, 
 in this case the population of London\, have responded to the threat and r
 eality of terror from the Second World War to the present day. He will als
 o address the various ways in which professionals have tried to reduce or 
 manage psychological responses to adversity\, sometimes with unintended re
 sults. Overall\, he will argue that ordinary people were and still are rat
 her more resilient than we sometimes assume.\n\n
