DESCRIPTION:Abstract: My collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Study of Aging
  since 2013 and more recently with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Cent
 er has supported my research into mild cognitive impairment\, Alzheimer’
 s disease and related dementias (ADRD)\, their risk factors and biomarkers
 \, and patient eligibility in ADRD clinical trials. In this presentation\,
  I will draw from this research experience and explore the multifactorial 
 etiology of cognitive impairment in older adults.\n\nBio: Dr. Maria Vassil
 aki is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Mayo Clinic\, where h
 er research focuses on cognitive ageing and impairment. She holds an M.D. 
 from the University of Crete\, with a medical specialty in “Public Healt
 h and Social Medicine\,” an M.P.H. in Disease Control from the Universit
 y of Texas\, and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from UCLA. Dr. Vassilaki brings a
  broad academic background to population-based research aiming to identify
  early indicators and risk factors for cognitive decline\, mild cognitive 
 impairment\, and dementia.
