DESCRIPTION:Mitochondrial dysfunction is implicated in a wide range of hum
an diseases\, yet its causal role and the reasons for tissue-specific mani
festations remain poorly understood. Here we show\, using large-scale gene
tic and transcriptomic data\, that nuclear regulation of mitochondrial gen
e expression contributes to complex trait biology. Our analyses reveal tis
sue-dependent mechanisms linking mitochondrial processes to disease risk a
nd highlight opportunities for understanding and potentially targeting mit
 ochondrial contributions to human health.
