DESCRIPTION:High-voltage monolithic active pixel sensors (HV-MAPS) are a n
ew generation of silicon detectors developed for high-energy physics track
ing. Projects such as MightyPix (LHCb)\, ATLASPix\, MuPix\, TelePix and AL
PIDE demonstrate how HV-MAPS combine fine spatial resolution\, sub-nanosec
ond timing\, radiation hardness and low cost through standard CMOS process
es that enable mass production. Within the LHCb MightyPix programme\, thes
e sensors already achieve high efficiency and excellent timing\, paving th
e way for precision vertex and timing detectors in future collider upgrade
 s. \nThis talk will explore how HV-MAPS can be adapted beyond high-energy
physics to applied sensing\, such as LiDAR and robotic vision. By tailorin
 g their pixel and readout architectures\, HV-MAPS could enable compact\, h
igh-speed\, and cost-efficient depth sensors that capture both timing and
intensity information. Such devices have the potential to deliver richly t
extured 3D imaging\, bridging collider instrumentation and applied sensing
with opportunities across autonomous systems\, quantum imaging and indust
 rial metrology.
