rganic contaminants in groundwater - Leonard Lim\, CUED

DESCRIPTION:Groundwater remediation is a challenging engineering problem.
\nAlthough there are many groundwater treatment technologies\, most do not
destroy the contaminants\, and require combination with costly above-grou
nd technologies. Photocatalysis\, which is an advanced oxidation process\,
has been previously adapted for water and wastewater treatment\, and has
shown ability to degrade a wide range of organic compounds. A previous stu
dy in this research group has demonstrated its potential for groundwater r
emediation. Therefore\, this research proposes and has developed a novel p
hotocatalytic reactor configuration\, which is particularly applicable to
the remediation of soluble organic compounds in groundwater.\n
