DESCRIPTION:In the field of active matter there have been extensive studie
 s in the context on self-propelled particles and phase-separation. However
 \, various interesting features arise at the molecular scale\, particularl
 y in the context of molecular machines\, i.e. enzymes. Here\, through a me
 chanistic framework of molecular machines\, we exploit the intriguing non-
 equilibrium features that emerge at the nano-scales. These include descrip
 tions that allows us to extract rules for the de novo design of enzymes as
  well as new mechanisms for the synchronization and cooperation of molecul
 ar oscillators.
