DESCRIPTION:Using a simple model for defective memories\, Professor Lapido
 th shall demonstrate some of Shannon’s key theorems on Data Compression 
 and Channel Coding\, which are at the heart of Information Theory. More re
 cent results\, which were obtained with Ligong Wang and Yiming Yan\, addre
 ss coding for such memories in the presence of a rate-limited helper that 
 is cognizant of both the data to be stored and the state of the memory cel
 ls.
