DESCRIPTION:I present a review of how fractional quantum Hall physics can
manifest itself in cold atoms. I will describe the properties and key phen
omena of these states\, and argue that rotating optical lattices are parti
cularly useful in creating them\, as well as providing access to unique ph
ysical features. I will report on new results where we find a fractional q
uantum Hall state that is an exact eigenstate of a rotating Bose-Hubbard m
odel with longer-ranged hoppings\, and describe how it could be observed e
 xperimentally.\n\n
