DESCRIPTION:Generalized symmetries correspond to topological defects and o
 perators. Finite generalized symmetries can be studied using a topological
  symmetry theory (SymTFT) in one higher dimensions. Various groups have re
 cently proposed a generalization of this picture to include also continuou
 s symmetries. In this talk I will review this construction and discuss som
 e recent applications in the context of non-linear realizations of continu
 ous symmetries and spontaneous symmetry breaking. Based on joint works wit
 h Federico Bonetti and Ruben Minasian.
