DESCRIPTION:The unprecedented global movement of people has resulted in in
 creasing demographic changes to classroom populations. As a result\, teach
 ers across the UK are working with increasing numbers of students from div
 erse backgrounds learning English as an additional language (EAL).  This p
 resentation reports on findings from case studies across the different sec
 tors of Scottish schools. The interpretation of the findings has drawn on 
 recent theorizing on languages\, literacies and identities in order to und
 erstand the elements that need to be in place for teachers to be able to d
 evelop practices that are truly inclusive and responsive to linguistic and
  cultural ‘difference’.
