DESCRIPTION:Laura Poppick's debut book\, Strata: Stories from Deep Time\, 
 explores four pivotal moments in Earth's deep geologic past\, and how the 
 field of stratigraphy has helped decode those events. Join her in a presen
 tation about the genesis of the book and the value of studying and communi
 cating Earth's geologic history. There will be time for a Q&A with the aud
 ience.\n\nPoppick's writing on science and the environment has appeared in
  the New York Times\, Smithsonian\, Scientific American\, Wired\, and else
 where. She has been a finalist for the Science in Society Journalism Award
  and the Maine Literary Awards. She lives in Maine.
