DESCRIPTION:The FP7 project PSIRP (Publish-Subscribe Internet Routing Para
digm) has been investigating the development of an alternative internetwor
king layer which is based on a scoped label system in which information is
named\, not endpoints. For such development\, separating the processes of
rendezvous\, topology formation and forwarding into separate functions is
key for the PSIRP architecture. With that in mind\, a strong focus in thi
s project is placed on the design of appropriate mechanisms for these func
tions. On an inter-domain level\, such design problem goes beyond a pure t
echnical design given the impact on socio-economic level that any solution
would have. For this reason\, the development of a socio-economic design
methodology has become an important task within the project. This talk wil
l provide an overview of this work\, exemplified using the rendezvous func
tion for the PSIRP architecture. An introduction into motivation\, develop
ed methodology and used toolkit as well as some results will be given in t
he talk. Furthermore\, a general overview of the PSIRP project will be inc
luded.\n\nBio: Dirk Trossen\, Senior Researcher in the Computer Laboratory
at Cambridge University\, has more than ten years of experience in networ
k architectures and wireless technology with main contributions in the are
a of inter-domain networking\, seamless handovers and physical network ove
rlays. He designed a platform for participatory wireless sensing\, availab
le under open source license. Dirk is one of the main drivers of the EIFFE
L think tank. He is currently technical lead for the EU project PSIRP\, wo
rking on a novel internetworking architecture based on information. He als
o technical leads a UK-funded project on lifestyle management. Dirk held p
rior positions as a Chief Researcher with BT Research and as a Principal S
cientist at Nokia Research. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science fr
om Technical University of Aachen\, Germany. He published more than 50 pee
r-reviewed papers in international conferences and journals and has curren
 tly 23 international patents.\n
