SUMMARY:Listening to the Universe: Gravitational Waves\, Amazing Detectors
\, and the Laws of Nature - Dr Giovanni Losurdo (INFN - Sezione di Pisa)

DESCRIPTION:A decade ago the first\, historic detection of tiny ripples of
spacetime\, generated by the merger of two black holes\, opened an entire
ly new observational window on the universe. Investigating the cosmos thro
ugh gravitational waves holds great potential for advancing our understand
ing across various areas of physics\, as suggested by the remarkable resul
ts achieved so far by the LIGO and Virgo detectors.\n\nIn this seminar\, w
e will review the impact of LIGO/Virgo observations to date and discuss th
e future prospects\, as we appear to be entering a “golden era” for gr
 avitational wave physics.
