DESCRIPTION:As evidence continues to grow for the variability of the IMF\,
  I will argue that the formulation proposed by the IGIMF theory offers the
  most promising and physically consistent framework.  I will then discuss 
 its implications for galaxy evolution\, chemical evolution\, and a broader
  cosmological context.
