DESCRIPTION:I will be offering a philosophical perspective to the workshop
. I will explain why the most important philosophical perspective for thos
e making causal inferences is to be aware of what their purpose is and que
stion what they are assuming about causality. The paper will explore debat
es concerning causal pluralism in philosophy\, and present Illari and Russ
o&rsquo\;s &lsquo\;causal mosaic&rsquo\; view which suggests we should loo
k to put together many causal concepts in a way that helps us address the
 particular purpose before us.
