DESCRIPTION:The Brauer-Manin obstruction to local-global principles relies
  on the understanding of the Brauer group of varieties. In particular\, th
 e transcendental Brauer group is a cohomological invariant that lacks a ge
 neral strategy of approach. In this talk\, we present recent work computin
 g the transcendental Brauer group for a family of K3 surfaces\, constructe
 d from a planar cubic curve in a similar fashion to Kummer surfaces. Final
 ly\, we explain the arithmetic implications predicted by Skorobogatov's co
 njecture.
