DESCRIPTION:Commenting on political hints that central direction of the wo
rk of primary teachers might be relaxed after thirteen years of what has b
een called a 'state theory of learning'\, the final report of the Cambridg
e Primary Review warned that 'a process which has concentrated\nso much po
wer at the centre\, and over the course of two decades has so decisively r
e-configured the relationship between government and teachers\, cannot be
instantly unpicked.' At this seminar\, Robin Alexander\, the Review's dire
ctor\, will rehearse the evidence that led to the Review's diagnosis and w
ill invite participants to join in discussion of how professional re-empow
erment can be achieved in a way that doesn't replace compliance and depend
 ence by non-accountable\nlicense.\n
