DESCRIPTION:There has been much progress in the field of 1-relator groups\
 nrecently\, but 2-generator 1-relator groups sometimes seem to be\nthe awk
 ward case that gets left behind.\n\nIn this talk we will claim (possibly e
 ven providing evidence) that it can be useful instead to view 2-generator 
 1-relator groups within the family of deficiency 1 groups (groups with a p
 resentation with the number of generators being one more than the number o
 f relators).
