DESCRIPTION:'Milton’s Mulberry' explores the rich history of the ancient
black mulberry tree in the Fellow’s Garden of Christ’s College\, Camb
ridge. Intertwining horticulture\, poetry\, and politics\, it traces King
James I’s failed silk industry\, Milton’s radical legacy\, and the tre
e’s role in college life today. We follow Milton’s journey from his fo
rmative years\, through his association with Oliver Cromwell\, to publishi
ng his seminal work: Paradise Lost. The tree represents a powerful symbol
of artistic expression\, colonial enterprise\, and enduring freedom of tho
ught. All stories that remain relevant to our lives today.
