DESCRIPTION:The Generation Study is a research programme which is sequenci
ng the genomes of 100\,000 babies at birth and returning results related t
o around 200 rare conditions\, where early intervention is likely to impro
ve outcomes. The government's 10 Year Health\n Plan has laid out the ambit
ion to roll out genomic newborn screening to all babies in the UK\, inform
ed by the evidence from the study. In this seminar\, the Generation Study
team will introduce the programme\, and describe how we are collecting and
evaluating\n evidence\, with a focus on potential statistical approaches
to determining screening accuracy and making evidence-based decisions in t
he context of very rare conditions and areas of uncertainty around them.
