DESCRIPTION:Prof Materlik is CEO of the Diamond Light Source\, the largest
  scientifiy facility having been built in the UK for 40 years. The atomic 
 structures and function of bio-molecules such as proteins and nanoscience 
 structures and their magnetism are studied by synchroton light at Diamond.
  The new experimental tools enable scientist to understand on a atomic sca
 le material properties such as hardness\, high temperature superconductivi
 ty and the ability to store hydrogen.\n\nIn his SciSoc lecture\, Prof Mate
 rlik will explain how scientists make use of Einstein's fundamental theori
