DESCRIPTION:The brain exhibits a variety of different timescales\, e.g.\,
duration of its processing\, in its neural activity\, so-called Intrinsic
Neural Timescales (INT). While the INT are known to show an intrinsic netw
ork topography\, from sensory to higher-order regions\, their exact functi
on for cognition remain yet unclear. My talk will demonstrate the topograp
hy as well as the role of the brain's INT in various cognitive functions
including consciousness. This is complemented by computational modeling sh
owing the key role of intra-regional recurrent processing in mediating INT
