DESCRIPTION:This paper will discuss Manoel de Oliveira's 2003 film Um Film
 e Falado\, as a post 9/11 work committed to elaborating the position on mo
 dern African/anti-Islamic crusades\, that Oliveira had already sketched in
  previous works such as "'Non' ou a Va Gloria de Mandar". My reading focus
 es on the ways in which Oliveira deploys a gender reversal of Sebastianic 
 mythology to issue a warning against Portugal's complicity in globalized n
 etworks of power.\n
