DESCRIPTION:Sunspots are the most striking manifestation of solar\nmagneti
 sm. The study of sunspots is of key importance not only in Solar\nPhysics 
 (dynamo and flux transport\, solar cycle\, coronal mass ejections\,\nmagne
 tic reconnection) but also in more fundamental physics such as\nmagneto-hy
 drodynamics and atomic/molecular physics.\n\nIn this talk I will report on
  our last efforts to understand the\nstructure and nature of sunspots. The
 se efforts have focused on using\nspectro-polarimetric observations to inf
 er the kinematic and magnetic\nstructure of sunspots and compare these res
 ults with the predictions\nfrom different theoretical models.
