oblem of the receptors involved in Calcium signalling - Samir Khan

DESCRIPTION:Calcium signalling is undoubtedly the most key process involve
d in regulating diverse cellular processes in both health and disease. The
highly versatile intracellular signal\, Calcium involves different spatia
l-temporal dynamics and is controlled by the 2 Calcium-releasing ion chann
els\, the Ryanodine and IP3 Receptors. It has been proposed that initial e
vents of BINDING evoke conformational changes that lead to GATING or Calci
um release by these receptors. Only a thorough understanding of the archit
ecture of these 2 receptors will inform where and how these conformational
changes occur within the receptors. This talk will provide an overview of
what BINDING-GATING problem is and how Structural and Functional studies
of these receptors will help in revealing this mechanism.
