SUMMARY:Physical Aspects of Multicellular Behaviour - Dr. Knut Drescher\,

DESCRIPTION:I will describe experimental and theoretical results relating
to the question of how unicellular and simple multicellular organisms inte
ract and\ncoordinate their motion. In particular\, I will focus on the mec
hanism by which multicellular organisms composed of thousands of cells exh
ibit accurate phototaxis in the absence of a central nervous system\, how
flagella of such organisms synchronize\, and how population behaviour is i
nfluenced by\nhydrodynamic interactions between individual organisms.\n\n\
