DESCRIPTION:We consider two-component one-dimensional quantum gases with a
density\nimbalance. While generically such fluids are two-component Lutti
nger\nliquids\, we show that if the ratio of the densities is a rational\n
number\, p/q\, and mass asymmetry between components is sufficiently\nstro
ng\, one of the two eigenmodes acquires a gap. The gapped phase\ncorrespon
ds to (algebraic) ordering of (p+q)-particle composites. In\nparticular\,
for attractive mixtures\, this implies that the\nsuperconducting correlati
ons are destroyed. We illustrate our\npredictions by numerical simulations
of the fermionic Hubbard model\nwith hopping asymmetry.
