DESCRIPTION:As the quality of MEMS inertial sensors continues to improve\,
so does their potential use for indoor localisation and tracking. The fir
st half of this talk will describe algorithms developed as part of my Ph.D
. research\, which are capable of locating and subsequently tracking a ped
estrian to metre level accuracy using only a foot-mounted inertial sensor
and a map of the environment. The second half of the talk will outline are
as of possible future research\, the potential generalisation of such tech
niques to the tracking of arbitrary objects\, and the theoretical limitati
ons of such an approach.\n\nI am making some of the code that I wrote duri
ng my Ph.D. available to the lab. Time permitting\, I will give an overvie
w of this code and present some simple examples of its use.
