DESCRIPTION:Device Analyzer: Uncovering mobile usage patterns\, Daniel Wag
ner\n\nDevice Analyzer is a data-collection application for Android mobile
devices. The application runs in the background and collects data from a
multitude of sources\, giving a snapshot of phone usage as well as context
ual information when available. The system combines event-driven logging o
f events with polling for continuously changing variables such as CPU load
and memory use. The system is currently being tested by a few members of
the DTG and should be circulated on the CL-Android mailing list for a clos
ed beta shortly. In this talk I will give an overview of the types of data
collected\, present some of the employed techniques and share some of the
lessons I learned in the process. \n\nEnergy Model for Modern Smartphone
GPS Sensor\, Mattias Linnap\n\nGPS is one of the most useful\, but also th
e most energy consuming sensor on modern phones. Unlike other sensors\, it
s behaviour is highly non-linear. I will present the results of an experim
ent to build a detailed energy model for GPS\, and explain the behaviour w
ith a short introduction on how the entire GPS system works.
