SUMMARY:‘Computational Approaches to Maximising the Quantity and Quality
of Biological Information Obtained from Mass Spectrometry Based Experimen
 ts’ - Dr Conrad Bessant\, Bioinformatics Group\, Cranfield University\,
 UK

DESCRIPTION:Appropriate data analysis strategies are essential if meaningf
ul biological information is to be extracted from the torrent of data prov
ided by modern mass spectrometry methods. This seminar will provide an ove
rview of some of the algorithms and software tools that Cranfield Bioinfor
matics Group has developed in this area. These include solutions for the i
dentification and quantitation of peptides and proteins from high throughp
 ut LC-MS/MS experiments\, robust biomarker discovery\, and evidence-based
experimental design. Outstanding challenges will be highlighted and future
  plans for tackling these discussed.
