DESCRIPTION:An astrophysical black hole is completely described with\njust
two parameters: its mass and its dimensionless spin. A few\ndozen black
holes have mass estimates\, but until recently none had a\nreliable spin e
stimate. In the last few years\, our group has measured\nspin parameters f
or a small number of black holes in X-ray binaries.\nThe talk will describ
e the method we use to make these measurements\nand will discuss implicati
ons of the results obtained so far.\n
