DESCRIPTION:George Weiss's conjecture concerns the property of admissibili
ty for infinite dimensional control systems. Roughly speaking\, admissibil
ity of a\ncontrol operator means that\, under the control's influence\, th
e system still takes an accepted range of values. Unfortunately\, the form
al definition of admissibility can be difficult to verify\, however\, the
Weiss conjecture asserts\nthat admissibility can be characterised by a sim
ple growth condition. In this\ntalk we will discuss classes of systems for
which the conjecture is true (or false)\, as well as generalisations of t
 he conjecture.\n
