DESCRIPTION:Immunology has traditionally focused on the role of profession
al immune cells\, with infected cells seen as largely helpless. However\,
there is growing evidence that non-professional cells possess their own m
echanisms of dealing with pathogens. My work is focused on understanding
these intracellular immune mechanisms\, in particular how pathogens are de
tected inside the cell and how they are neutralised.
